Newspaper Library
Although part of the British Library the Newspaper Library is an entirely separate archive, housed at some distance from the main library in St. Pancras.

The Newspaper collection is housed at Colindale in north London, and comprises many, many thousands of national and local newspaper editions from all over the British Isles, as well as overseas. In certain cases the first edition held dates from the 18th century, and runs through almost to the present day.

As a source of information on the day-to-day lives (and deaths!) of our ancestors the Newspaper Library is an unrivalled source.
